6 Ways to Update Your Home For Spring

Spring is here and I love nothing more than to embrace the new season by making some changes in the home.

While winter has its place with cosy blankets and textured cushions to add warmth and comfort, spring offers an opportunity to introduce some lighter textures, colour and even natural beauty with a new plant or two to celebrate the change in season.

It’s so easy to update your home for spring. Here are 6 ways to update your home for the warmer weather.

1. Bring in the Greenery

This tip is easy and if you’ve been following the blog for a while, you know I’m an advocate for plants inside the home. Spring is ideal to add a few new plants to the home. They offer colour and can help clean the air after being closed in for winter.

Some favourites to introduce to give a spring like feel are Monstera Deliciosa and a Peace Lily. If you’re not sure which plants to bring into your home, this list of 10 plants which are hard to kill may help.

2. Lighten the textiles

Thick wooly blankets and faux fur cushions can be swapped with cotton throws and crochet cushions. Remove the heavy table cloth and use placemats instead. Lighten the textures and textiles in your home as it will re-freshen your home for spring.

3. Fill empty corners with fresh flowers

The garden is often a buzz with colourful life in Spring. Bring the flowers inside and create your own posy to fill empty corners of your home. The colour and texture can bring new life to your interiors. It’s also an affordable update anyone can do.

4. Paint furniture

A fun way to add some colour to your home is painting furniture in a new hue. Repurpose an old chair or give a side table a fresh coat of paint in a bright colour. Try olive or cobalt blue for a different look.

5. Add wallpaper to a blank wall

Wall paper can make a striking impact to a blank wall. For a fresh take on spring interiors, why not go all out with a mural or chintz print?

6. Change an existing artwork

Often swapping cushions and throws, or adding a new coloured piece of furniture can throw off the existing artwork in your living area. Why not update existing art using your own supplies? I show you how in this post.
