I saw a few photos in my Instagram feed recently that used ZINC for some pots and outdoor lights. I loved it and I predict this may be our next big craze!

Last week I headed to Melbourne to chat with some fellow bloggers and instagrammers about all things lighting and the new trends coming through (I’ll blog about that in more details soon) and I mentioned how I thought Zinc might be coming through.

We’ve gone through the copper craze, then black and also brass, but if you’re like me and just can’t commit to those, then zinc may be that soft and rustic look you’re after. Take a look at these photos below to see what I mean…

I suppose brushed Nickel can be similar to Zinc except for the roughness. Zinc works well because it lends itself to the grey tones. It ties in with the industrial style but can also be toned down with the use of glass to be used in a more contemporary home.

I think we’ll see more zinc being used in:

  • Round mirrors
  • Lamps
  • Chairs
  • Pendant lights
  • Pots

It’ll be less shabby looking and more refined. Can’t wait to see it pop up some more!

I think your right. It may very well be the next “big thing” it’s also something that I think will stick around, it has timeless elegance as well as being on trend.

I’ve always loved zinc. My husband made our out door table and covered it in zinc. I wish I had a zinc splashback put in .
