There’s no rest with 3 boys

My weekends always start with “what can we do today?” The answer “nothing” is almost like a swear word. The look of horror that comes over their faces is hilarious and there is never any rest in our house. So, of course we HAD to go fishing yesterday. Plus I couldn’t get out of this one, I was long overdue, so I sucked it up and went with them… 😉

Cruise is only happy when he is playing rugby league and fishing. His face says it all… (his shirt is a fishing-brand shirt in case you are wondering about the skulls and guns!)

This is my baby, Chevy (well he’s not a baby, he’s 7!), but he’s lazy and is having a little snooze. Anyone who knows him will laugh because this is very typical! 🙂

God I love this guy. Yep, I love him more now than I did when I married him almost 14 years ago. Sorry to get all soppy, but sometimes you just need to say it out loud and let people know! He’d give his right arm to make sure the kids and I were happy.

Here is Tex. The sweet little clever one. He is a mini-me I think!

We pulled over on the bank to set-up for a little BBQ. My boys are seasoned campers so they have all the gear!

See above? Can you spot Chevy? Laying down on the bench seat! Haha!! Of course.

The above photo is a good one… see the mattress up high in the branches? Well that’s still there from when the floods went through recently. That’s how much water the river had!

It was rather windy yesterday. It wasn’t too bad down on the river because the banks protected us. BUT we didn’t catch a single thing! The kids don’t care, just a long as we wasted a few hours doing something!

I have had the flu this week and terrible asthma. I am not a year-round asthmatic – just seasonal. So when the weather changes all the time and I get hayfever on top of the flu, I get really short of breath. I have been sucking on ventolin all week. But yesterday arvo it really got me and I had to make a quick dash to the hospital. I was in and out in about an hour which was so good! They pumped me full of more ventolin and have given me steroids for a week. God, I hate that feeling when you can’t catch your breath! Feeling heaps better today though.

Lastly, below is a photo that is typical of my house… if you live with boys not only do you HAVE to go fishing, play cricket in the backyard, and ride a push bike, you get to see your trinkets like this…

Ahhhh… wouldn’t change a thing though!

Happy Monday. KC.

Have you got boys?

I know what you mean sweetie my hubby (@motorbikenut) is the same he’ll do anything (within the law of course LOL) to make sure A & I are hubby and we do the same for him in return.

It’s great to always get away for a day or weekend with the family and all do something. Glad that you all had fun.

Looks like a nice time even if there were no fish!
My boys love fishing and the boat too…. But I have to ask – I have Crohn’s and I’m always worried about going on the boat to places where there are no amenities – how do you cope? I find it really stressful!

I’m not having a flare at the moment so I am all good to go – otherwise I don’t go 🙂 Hope you are ok! X

That’s good to hear you’re doing ok – I seem to stress even when well. Such a frustrating disease!

Love your recounts of your days/weekends. I wanted to have 6 boys when I was young, but I only have one 13yo son named Daniel, he is currently into Skylanders, he takes one with him everywhere. He is also writing a song for a band that he and his mates have put together. I love his enthusiasm for his hobbies.

This little post resonated with me on many levels. Back ‘in the block days’, I remember watching you re-united with your boys Iincluding hubby) and David and I commenting on being able to ‘see’ the love! Nice to hear you say it, few people bother, but lasting love is worth celebrating. I have one boy after two daughters and a 10 year gap. LOVE my mate…so different to parenting girls! We went fishing in windy weather here too on Sunday. All your absent fish weren’t near us either! Don’t know if you’re experiencing smoke haze in Wagga? We’re on the Central Coast but are being affected, it’s causing havoc with my daughter’s asthma! Thanks for sharing such an intimate snapshot. Made me stop and realise how lucky we are…

So funny, Katrina. People get hysterical over the bird, but when you live with boys it actually is quite common place, I have one that sneakily photo bombs every pic with the bird. Very naughty. Made me laugh out loud when I saw that hand. Funny stuff. Love it x
