Create your community on Facebook first

COMMINUTY

Yesterday I had a call from a lovely lady who needed a little direction with her online presence. She was a tad overwhelmed, couldn’t see results and just didn’t know what to concentrate on…

I’ve had these conversations before… I know what it’s like to not know where to go to next! You feel like you’re writing good blog posts, have a Facebook account and know how to use it all, but they don’t seem to be giving you anything in return…

My advice was this – Rest your blog for now. No one is finding it and it’s time consuming.

I told her to just concentrate solely on Facebook for now.

Here’s 8 reasons why:

:: Build a community over there – it’s free to set up. Gather numbers over there and allow people to learn more about you. They will click to your blog after they know more about you.

:: Show up on Facebook every single day (even 3 times a day!). The more you use the page, the more REACH you will have.

:: Ask your friends to like the page, ask them to ask their friends to like the page.

:: Spend a few dollars boosting posts on Facebook or spend a few dollars by creating an ad to get more likers. Get some numbers on your page. It’s not hard, it’s pretty cost effective and it does work.

:: 3 times a day add content which is fun, newsy or relevant to your business. Mix it between these 3 ideas.

:: Find 3 Facebook pages which you enjoy. Mimic what they are doing. Watch them and see how often they use it.

:: Almost everybody has Facebook. It’s easy for people to communicate through Facebook. They can do it on the run! Blogs are harder. They take longer to read and almost always no one reading on a device will take the time to comment.

:: Tag people and other pages. Share the love around. You’ll get noticed!

So, there you have it! My advice to get your online presence moving. Start with Facebook, then I recommend you move to Instagram. We’ve become very visual (with the inception of idevices). People need lots of visuals to feel a connection. Then, get back to blogging.

What do you think? Is Facebook your go to place? Or something else? Where do you like to spend your time? Where do you get your daily readers from? I’d love to know what is working for you!
