Gotta love Father's Day! We are having my Dad over at our's for a slap-up lunch… still coming to terms with not having the mother around, so it will be a bit quiet, but we do our best to show Dad that we love him heaps! Hope you guys have a wonderful day!

Happy birthday Mr Chevvy! And happy father's day to your hubby. I was hoping to visit my Dad this weekend, as my kids are with THEIR Dad. But I'm sick, so I'll be taking it easy, and we'll be visiting him in the school holidays instead. Have a fun weekend!

We are delaying Father's Day Celebrations one week to wait for my daughter to arrive home in NSW and then all 4 of us can be together, YAH!

In my 20s, I thought I had everything under control. I was married by 22, had finished having children by 29, and I possessed a university degree that I never actually used. Back then, I was just going through the motions, firmly believing I knew better than anyone else. I thought I was so mature, but I truly knew nothing. Little did I know that 20 years later life looked much different.

I spent all of my 30s battling a chronic illness that sidelined me for much of the decade. Although I did have a brief stint on a TV show, most of that time was overshadowed by being unwell and out of work.

Now, in my 40s, I often reflect on those days with a sense of sadness. I miss having little kids. When they were glued to me. These days, it takes a lot more effort to get them to spend time with me, and I cherish every moment I get!

I’ve come to understand that life isn’t just about smooth sailing; the challenges are necessary. The stops and starts—the red and yellow lights—are where we grow and learn. Today, I’m focused on acquiring new skills, working hard, and building something meaningful for myself, all while trying to appreciate myself a little more. ✌🏻

Last week, I had a wobbly moment. I got it into my head that I wasn’t good enough to do something. It took me by surprise, but in a group chat with my mum and sister, they talked me round. This is funny in itself because I’m usually the one holding them together, but here was my sister, almost slapping me in the face as she talked me up. Ha! Instead of panicking and feeling low about something I couldn’t control, she made me reassess. What if I took the initiative? What if I started steering my own ship? What if I nudged things in the direction I wanted them to go? It was a much better option than thinking of the worst-case scenario…

At the end of the day, I was humble enough to know that I can be replaced, but confident enough to know that there is no one quite like me. It was ok to feel this way. But the question was - what am I going to do about it?

Here’s a simple guide to help you find your perfect tile combination:

1. Whether you’re into the Hamptons, contemporary, earthy eco, or minimalist modern, there’s a style for everyone. If you don’t know your style, write down some colours you love.

2. Start by selecting 4 tiles that catch your eye. You need a feature tile, a floor tile, a wall tile, and one wildcard tile that you love but aren’t sure where to place yet.

3. Decide on your feature tile first. This should be the tile you adore the most and will set the tone for your space. It’s perfect for making a statement on a wall. If you don’t want a feature tile go to the next step.

4. Next, choose your floor tile. You can get creative here with patterns, textures, or veins. Remember, your floor can also be your feature, making your choice even more impactful!

5. To tie your feature and floor tiles together, select a tonal tile. Opt for something plain that complements both to create a seamless look. It could just be as simple as white.

6. Lay out your tiles to see how they work together. This visual arrangement can help you make final adjustments before you decide.

7. Consider your wildcard tile. Could it replace any of the first three choices to better suit another room, like an ensuite, powder room, or laundry?

💡 By focusing on these four tiles, you can build a cohesive look that flows beautifully throughout your home. The 4th tile is flexible, so play around with options until everything clicks!

But if your walls show any signs of wear or it’s been a while since their last coat (think eight years or more), you’ll want to opt for a separate primer.

Make a water-based primer, sealer, and undercoat the first thing you grab before that paintbrush. Your future self will thank you for a job well done.
