The Block 2019 Oslo: Kitchen reveals

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Kitchens! I love kitchen week. Check the reveals out from The Block last night.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]MITCH AND MARK
Score: 26/30
Mitch and Mark dialed up the glamour in their luxurious kitchen, serving up a simply stunning space that wowed the judges right from the word go. The boys’ kitchen included a gorgeous backlit splashback, illuminated island bench, dark timber floors and stunning navy blue statement cabinetry, which worked beautifully against the grey and white hues of their main cupboards and brushed steel fixtures and fittings.
“Look at all the light that comes from that stone!” Shaynna exclaimed upon stepping inside. “That looks absolutely spectacular.”
But the illumination didn’t stop there – the boys’ also included three “virtual windows”on the adjacent wall, essentially lightboxes configured to give the illusion of open space via a window. With the touch of a button, the light could be adjusted to different “daytime/nighttime” levels.

Score:28.5/30
Jesse and Mel created another stunning, contemporary space with their kitchen this week, which ticked all the boxes for both style and functionality. The couple chose to offset their stunning herringbone parquetry floor with dark-hued cabinetry, a large, white island bench with Ceasarstone top, and an illuminated marble base and mirrored kickers. They placed their stovetop opposite, allowing ample food preparation area and giving them the space to put their sink – complete with black tapware – on the island.
The bold, stylish island was accentuated by the placement of black rattan stools, and a large statement LED light, which made everything feel very modern and very luxe. They chose to accentuate their brass-inlaid doors with brushed steel handles, which worked extremely well to tie everything together and matched the heritage details carried through in the rest of their home.

Score: 29.5/30
Andy and Deb sure are on a winning streak. Not only did they take out a whopping $15k in extra prize money this week, they also walked away victorious after delivering a drop-dead-gorgeous kitchen, which Neale said was one of the “best he’d ever seen on the show”. The hero? That amazing light-filled void.
“Let there be light and it was delivered!” said Shaynna, looking skywards. In her opinion, the couple’s decision to decrease the size of their upstairs study in favour of knocking through the floor to create a lightwell from the roof was a stroke of genius. Thanks Josh and Jenna, who persuaded them to go big and bold with their plans. In fact, all three judges thought the decision to include the void complemented the white cabinetry, impressive island bench and marble splashback in the kitchen perfectly, giving a sense of incredible luxury in the light-filled space.

Score: 27.5/30
Tess and Luke really needed to impress the judges this week – and they did just that, producing a stunning, contemporary kitchen, complete with enormous island bench. Coming in at four metres in size, as Neale pointed out, “it needed its own postcode!” But it did the job, and helped deliver a space that had inescapeable “wow” factor, with all the judges agreeing ther “very moody, very St Kilda” kitchen ticked all the boxes.
Shaynna was a particular fan of the timber-look cabinetry the couple used above the stove, which had ingenious touch-technology, designed so the cupboards rise automatically when touched and close with a button.
The dark timber of their statement cabinetry worked well with the charcoal and concrete-look splashback and black tapware, which complemented the dark timber floors and chocolate-coloured cabinetry.

Score: 23.5/30
Way back in week one, Matt and El’ise won that amazing Gaggenau prize. And this week their kitchen was stacked full of the state-of-the-art equipment. Pride of place? That amazing wine fridge, standing proud amongst the sage-hued cabinetry.
Neale loved it instantly, saying, “This is a serious wine-lovers kitchen.”
All three judges also loved the integrated double fridge, which popped open at the touch of the door. Opposite this amazing fridge, the couple placed a sizeable island bench, which not only sported a sink – complete with black tapware – but also a state-of-the-art cooktop and that amazing concrete-look induction range hood.
