So the rug is awesome, but the furniture isn’t.

rug

Remember how I mentioned this rug? I got it yesterday. I LOVE it! It is just what I hoped it to be.

BUT, apparently it’s just not working in the room with the furniture I have (Amie tells me this – and she is right!). I thought in my mind it would work well. Actually, I still think the rug works well with the lounge, just not the layout. I am feeling some serious stress here people! Amie had me moving furniture in and out and we discussed recovering a chair and painting things… I sat on the whole drama for a few hours and I decided to close the door on that room and walk away.

I’ve woken up this morning and decided that the rug will stay in that room, but I will need to save my $ for new furniture to work properly. Kill me now! Argh! I think the rug just made me realise that the lounge I had in there wasn’t working well at all. So I have emptied the room and have closed the door again. I’m going in circles. Are you still with me here? Ha!

But I will say it’s fun decorating a house. I am in my element. It’s a big job and even though I already own enough furniture, it never seems right in a new house. For me, you have to get the lounge right in any lounge room and then the rest will flow around it.

So today, I will walk away from that room and ponder it a little more. I might turn my focus to my bedroom 🙂

What are you up today on this last Public Holiday Day? Today The Media Maid’s Blog Academy launches so I will be busy with my new class! Have a great day everyone. X

It’s always hard getting things to work in new places. The dimensions aren’t quite right, the colours don’t seem the same.

Good luck and enjoy the journey!

I think a pale throw and cushions on the couch would tie it in whilst you save up for the new one. It makes me think that nothing in my house goes at all!

Yep, the stripes have got to go!

Love that rug, and I love how it feels underfoot. They are also great with kids as they don’t show the dirt.

I agree that they don’t work well together….damn! Lounges are exy! Perhaps layering with a big linen sheet and a swedish skin / sheep skin / chunky knit? I’ve been buying and storing ‘stuff’ for three years for this build….God help me when it all comes out and I try to put it together!

I’m just about to buy this rug! I loved the look but assumed it would be that rough seagrass..but it’s so beautiful and soft!! Can’t wait to pick it up, I hope it goes with my furniture, I have a modular black leather lounge in a kind of U shape so I think it’ll look good. I brought some cute chevron yellow cushions too 🙂
