The penny tile is still here!

The penny tile has been around forever, but they seem to be making more of a statement in the contemporary design world lately. They lend themselves well to the bathroom and laundry spaces, but I have seen them pop up as a kitchen splashback too. I love them, and think you can’t go wrong with a penny tile. Come and see a few photos for inspiration…

TIPS:

  • Versatile and appealing
  • They look and feel expensive
  • They are good for floor areas as they aren’t slippery
  • Mixed with different grout shades you can transform the look
  • Kitchen spaces are usually sleek and shiny with appliances, so adding a penny tile as a splashback can bring in a new texture
  • Typically you can buy black or white penny tiles, but lately there has been a mix of colours – metallic, marble, even light blue and green
  • They work well in small plus large spaces, so very pliable.
  • Emphasise and dramatise your bathroom by going black
