Painted brick facades for instant curb appeal

If you watch those American reno shows you’ll notice that they are a big fan of painting an old tired brick facade. It’s actually a really great way to bring an ugly, boring home back to life. I’ve also seen a few painted brick homes popping up around Wagga lately. It’s an inexpensive and pretty easy DIY project if you’re renovating and just want to give an old facade a new facelift without adding mega bucks to the project.

I just did mine here.

Come and check out these photos for some inspiration…

TIPS on painting your brick facade

  • Painting your brick can add instant curb appeal. If you have a yucky brown or orange brick you can modernise your home with colours like grey, charcoal or white.
  • Consider the existing trims already. If you’re not changing roof colour or window frames you need to choose a colour which matches what’s already there.
  • Even though this can be a DIY project you need research how to successfully do this without risking the paint peeling down the track. You’ll need to start with a super clean surface and everything you’re not painting needs to be masked up.
  • If it’s a really big area you can spray paint instead of manually rolling.
  • You can even paint interior brick walls too!
  • If you’re adding an extension to your home a good way to integrate that is to paint existing bricks and use a weatherboard for new addition painted in the same colour.
  • Much cheaper than rendering!
  • You can get this done in a weekend if you’ve prepped everything first.

Holiday project anyone? ♥ KC.
