Hi there! How are you all? Some of you would have seen on Instagram and Facebook that we went to the snow last weekend. Now, I am normally a cold frog and the snow would be the last place I would want to hang out, but I was wrong! It’s actually a lot of fun and my boys just love it. 🙂
I’ve been doing some work with Ford lately, and they were kind enough to give us their new Ford Mondeo Titanium for a few weeks and send us on a trip to the snow. I am very lucky I know! So not only am I telling you about my great weekend away, but I am going to tell you about THE smartest car I have ever driven. That’s right, who knew I’d be so in to a car?? I’m not a rev-head or anything, but you give me a gadget or a new piece of technology and I’m all over it! So, I shall refer to this Mondeo as the SMART CAR because it keeps surprising me all the time… Like the time I discovered a few weeks ago that is does high-beam all on it’s own, and when I was using my cruise control and came up behind a slower car I never had to put my brake on! I just about wet myself laughing when I could also adjust the distance to sit behind another car. This thing has so many sensors that if I did have a crash I’d be in big trouble because it let’s me know when someone brakes too fast in front of me, or if I’m too close to anything. That’s just the beginning of it’s smartness… it looks pretty flash too. Seeing as most women decide on the style of the family car, then I give this one the big thumbs up.
We headed off last Friday. Me in my leopard print, as you do. We were packed to the hilt, but we have the wagon so I could stuff everything in the back. We all can’t go anywhere without our own pillows. Do you do that?
We could see the snow on the horizon!
We hired all our gear from The Bright Ski Centre in Bright, Victoria. We hired from there last year and their service was superb and they didn’t disappoint of course. My eldest wanted to learn how to snowboard so we hired that too.
We headed up towards Mt Hotham in Victoria, and 14 kms onwards is a place called Dinner Plain. This was recommended to us where we could do lots of snow play and use the snowboard at the same time.
So after about 3 attempts from halfway up this hill my 11 year decided he could easily do the whole thing! I was so impressed with his determination. They say that if you can skateboard you can snowboard, so he was off and running! Clever cookie. Kids are just too coordinated. My husband was busting for a go, but the boots were too small, and I say it was a sign because knowing his luck he would have broken an arm or pulled his back out! Haha.
Plenty of fun. This little kid wanted to go with me for the first turn until he got the feel for it and then he was off on his own! Wheeeeeeeee….
So this place (Dinner Plain) had a cafe, a dancing snowman and entertainment. Santa even came in a Fire Engine and he was on ski’s! It was a Christmas in July party so it was a great weekend to be there.
Here’s a fun little video I made when we were driving out of Mt Hotham. You might recognise this song!
Then after a massive day it was time to defrost and head back down the mountain. My SMART CAR had toasty seat warmers to fix that! PLUS I have to mention – we drove all the way from Wagga to Bright (3 hour drive), up to Mt Hotham, home to Wagga again and then drove around for another 4 days ALL ON ONE TANK OF DIESEL. That’s insane. It cost me $100 to fill up and I had a trip away on it plus drove around town. Impressive ladies!
But wait, there’s more! I’m running a great giveaway here…
