Let’s welcome “Project 18”

I sometimes stalk Cate on twitter. She is the is President/Founder of Project 18. She is a mother to 9 children and the most inspirational person I know! She lives her life to the fullest and not a day goes by where she is not striving to help other people.

Project 18 prides itself in the fact that we aren’t here to offer band-aid solutions to broken lives. Our mission is to increase the quality of life for underprivileged and orphaned children but we go further than just providing shelter, food and the basics in life.

Project 18 concedes that our generation and those before us have gone a long way to creating a global problem which has allowed an ever widening division between those who have, and those who have not. Based in Australia, one of the wealthiest and most privileged countries in the world, we are perplexed by the fact that such abject poverty lies right at our doorstep and yet, for the most part, goes unseen.

Our project is unique in that it tightly combines humanitarian and conservation aid, with equal importance. We recognise that the future of our earth depends almost totally on the children of today. We seek to involve children in environmental conservation, reforestation & rehabilitation of wildlife from the youngest possible age. We believe that if communities are given the tools, knowledge & opportunity to create sustainable lifestyles for themselves and their families they will be able to create a legacy that will last for generations to come.
