Indoor plants for your office

Liven up that work or home office with a few indoor plants that will be hard to kill (I know, it’s still possible!). These plants are pretty good in low light, don’t need a lot of love, will clear the air, plus bring you good vibes…

Peace Lily

A nice colour and leaf shape with a flower here and there. I have one in a dark corner in my office and it’s doing well. It doesn’t need a lot of water either. I just give it a drink when it looks very droopy every month or so.

Boston Fern

These are very cute and also come in a hanging pot. I have one in my eldest son’s bedroom hanging up high and it’s doing well. I water it every 10 days or so.

Snake Plant

These are everywhere at the moment. You can’t kill them! They will grow in any spot. Some have slight variations in colour.

Jade

“Jade by the door, poor no more!” That’s what the feng shui lovers say! They are considered a “lucky plant” or “money tree”. You can’t say no to that! The money tree is used as a feng shui cure to attract the energy of wealth and prosperity. The money tree plant is supposed to produce positive vibrations that will bring prosperity to the owner of the house or business.

Chinese Evergreen

Growing Chinese evergreens can make even the novice indoor gardener look like an expert. This tropical foliage plant is one of the most durable houseplants you can grow, tolerating poor light, dry air and drought.

Zanzibar Gem

This is my favourite. I have 3 of them (you can see my BIG one here). They can grow in a dark cupboard and only need water 3-4 times a year. They are cheap too – about $30 for a good sized one and my local Bunnings store have them all the time.

Air Plant

You cannot go wrong with this one! Stick in a glass bowl or tuck in to a piece of timber. Tiny scales on their leaves, called trichomes, absorb water and nutrients directly from the air. The plants’ “roots” are used only for clinging and do not absorb water and nutrients like earthbound plants.

Devil’s Ivy

Gorgeous hanging pot because of their lush green leaves. They thrive with filtered light and little water so perfect for the bathroom.
