{The 3 rascals with my Mum}
At this time of the year I am feeling a little washed out. There is too much to do and I really don’t want to do any of it. Everyone in my house also seems to have become very lazy…
(btw, this is tongue in cheek post in case you don't get my humour tied in with a rant!)
I’d had enough of the mess, the laziness and taking me for granted so I pulled out the “5 people in this house, not just me” card. I decided it was time for me to throw a massive tantrum and get everyone to start listening. They needed to pull their sock up…
I was tired of the sentences starting like this:
- where’s my phone…
- have you seen my shoes…
- where’s that drink bottle…
- there’s nothing to eat…
- I don’t have clean socks…
So I ranted for a while, cried a little bit, told them I need them to help. I can’t do everything and not everything in this house is my responsibility. There are 5 of us and all 5 of us are old enough to clean up, get our own drinks, find our own shoes and generally help. I was furious when there was a wet towel in the hallway. It had probably been there for an hour and I know more than one person had been stepping over it for an hour before I noticed. I was like, ARE YOU SERIOUS?? No one had thought that doesn’t belong there so I might pick it up??
My 10 year old casually said to me the other week, “Mum, remember when you had that job before The Block where you worked lots and that lady came to clean our house? We used to get home and everything was fresh and clean?”
I burst out laughing… WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY MATE? Haha. I kindly reminded him that if everyone helped around here, our house could be clean ALL the time.
Yesterday my mood still hadn’t improved. I was foul. My husband called me a chicken (fowl, get it?). I am surrounded by 4 males who will never understand lady hormones. They pretty much stayed away from me. Nothing I did could shift my mood. I stomped around washing beds, washing clothes, ironing, vacuuming – trying to make some order in this house. My husband knew my mood – this house is filthy and I’m not coping mood. So he quietly helped where he could (but mostly staying out of my way… haha).
God I love them. But I will not have lazy blokes in my house. The future wives of these children will be thanking me one day. 🙂
3 more days of school left and then I have them home for a loooong time. We have lots of ‘family meetings’ in our house and tonight we’ll be having one to discuss the expectations during the school holidays. 🙂
I’d be great a running a concentration camp don’t you think? #jokes
What’s your current rant about? I bet you have one at this time of the year too!
