Do you menu plan? If so, how far in advance?
I am shocking at organising what we are having for dinner in advance. I always wing it. I usually decide some time around lunch what we’re having (if anything exciting and this means I’ll go to the supermarket), or I say we’ll just use what we have here.
I have a bit coming up in the next few months and it will require me to be out of my normal daily routine. Because I generally work from home it’s been easy to whip to the shops and grab food here and there. But with a new schedule coming up, that won’t be possible. And I don’t think I can handle the food thing (or lack of!) in my house if I can’t stay on top of it. It’s my worst nightmare – being under the pump to get food in to the house. My boys need huge amounts of it! I don’t ever take them food shopping with me (because derrr boys and food makes me spend more $$) so getting supplies on the way home from school is not an option. I’ll have to be more disciplined.
I told my husband the groceries and meals are stressing me out.
He used the words “menu plan…” and I did this…
Give me a floor to clean, beds to make, benches to wipe, windows to clean… but menu planning AND actually cooking is scary. While I CAN cook, and I will if I have to, I prefer my husband to either do it (I’ll get the food) or we prepare food which goes on the BBQ. 😉
The reality is, I am going to have to write a huge shopping list which will probably only last 3-4 days maximum in our house and I’ll need to think about what we’re eating that far ahead each week. Ha! I need to get more sensible about being organised about food!!
I need a simple plan to help me get more organised. Do you have any tips? I bet someone’s written an ebook or something like this. My bestie has been telling me for years to menu plan but I never do. Help! Point me in the right direction? ♥ KC.
