DIY: Update chrome lamps with spray paint

featured

I’ve had these chrome lamps for ages. I bought them at Freedom in 2010… They were great when I first got them, but now I am over them and thought I could give them a new lease of life with a colour change. Painting chrome is easy, but it needs to be done with spray paint and you need to buy the right stuff…

You need to use a anti-rust-based paint or Rust-Oleum. Something like the one above. I bought it at Masters. It’s Anit-Rust Armour in a flat black colour. Not shiny paint, or satin paint, just a matt finish. It was about $12 and you’ll only need 1 can.

Spray it on lightly – they’ll need a couple of coats. Make sure you keep shaking the can as it will spit out blobs if you don’t…

And there we go! Brand new lamps! Well, they feel like they are brand new. I’m so happy with how they have changed my room. Perfect!

This is an easy project you can do today. Got any shiny, chrome or brass things you could makeover? Spray paint them and you’ll love the look.

They really look fab Katrina! They really anchor the room with all the white and add some interest. I too have some chrome light shades I have had enough of – they may just get a makeover!! 🙂

Nice pics Katrina! Black lamps do much more for your bedroom than silver ones!
