I managed to squeeze in another little DIY project this week using paint from Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan (my blog sponsor). I decided to dip some jars in paint to jazz them up. It was so easy and anyone can do this. You don’t need to have a piece of wood furniture to be able to use this paint – it goes on just about anything. The beauty of using Chalk Paint™ is that it’s so easy to use – there’s no sanding or priming and it adheres to most surfaces – like glass!
I will admit, I love an instant coffee in the morning. I’m not a coffee snob 😉 So, I saved 3 large jars. I gave them a good clean up and then they were ready to go.
Initially I wasn’t sure which colour to use, but I decided to keep it simple and went with Provence. I tipped some paint into a plastic bowl and rolled the bottom half of the jar around in it. I didn’t fuss over it and was happy to let it be uneven and take it’s own shape.
I let the paint drip off the bottom and then rested it on paper to remove the excess on the bottom. I moved it around on a few pieces of paper to make sure I had all the drips off.
I was so happy with how it was turning out. I could have easily just left it there, but I decided to get out my soft clear wax and wipe it over the painted areas. This really made me happy once I saw it coming together. The Chalk Paint™ has a lovely matt finish and the wax sealed it and made it look amazing!
Next I decided to tie some twine around the jars…
Then in went all the foliage I had gathered and taaa-dah!
What do you think? This took me no time at all – the longest was just letting them dry. The finish looks great. It’s matt, chalky and it won’t scratch off easily. Any colour would suit! I also envisaged Christmas colours when doing these…
Do you have a project which could use a lick of paint?
