Dining table centrepiece ideas

If you’re like me and NEVER know what to put on your dining table then today I grabbed a few ideas (and some of my past dining table vignettes at home) to help you. I always struggle because everything either looks too small, or is too big, or there are too many things, or do I need a tray or a bowl??… Ha. But I like things to be neat and ordered 😉

Here are some ideas…

AND below is my forever changing dining table…

I don’t think there are any rules, but you can see that most of the ideas above have been thought out.

Dining table centrepiece ideas to consider

  • Items grouped together in different heights works well. Mostly in threes.
  • If you prefer more than three items then a tray helps you group everything together.
  • An indoor plant is an easy solution.
  • Candles look great if you have a few of them either grouped in a bunch, or sitting on a tray.
  • Foliage from the bush/garden is stunning in a big rustic vase.
  • A large bowl of fruit injects colour. Think of a pile of oranges/lemons, or pineapples heaped in a bowl for a visual appeal.
  • If you have a big long table then larger items will work. If your table is smaller then scale the vignette to suit. If you have a round table then a round tray/basket/bowl looks good.
  • If you have a high ceiling then you can add height to the vignette.
  • If you have low hanging pendants then your centrepiece will need to be lower.

My dining room table always has a centrepiece, at the moment a plant takes pride of place. Too many people nowadays eat in front of the TV and use their dining table for storing junk on!
