Hi there! I haven’t done an ‘Around here lately‘ blog post for a while because it’s been pretty boring really! You know what it’s like? Busy every single day, but with nothing important. But this week I really wanted to share with you all that my sister, Amie, had baby number 4! This is little Jewel Maple. She is the sweetest little thing! I was there for her birth. My sister is a machine – she just gets on with labour and gives it everything she’s got. No drugs, just gets through it, then pushes and out pops a beautiful bubba! She has some busy days ahead with 4 little kiddies. Argh, she can have that… hahaha πŸ˜‰

Christmas is just around the corner. I’ve done no Christmas blogging or preparing at home. I usually don’t like to say the word “Christmas” until December. I’m just not in to over-preparing and over-planning. It’s just one day! I’ve never found this time of the year stressful. My Mum never made it a huge fanfare when we were kids. Don’t get me wrong, we love Christmas, but we are rather relaxed and non-fussed with all the theme stuff. This year we’re having a very casual lunch at my house. I won’t even put the tree up until mid-December! But in saying that, I have no real idea what to get my kids this year. I think that’s because Santa isn’t really a thing here anymore. My littlest kid is 11. We haven’t specifically had the conversation (because I just want to leave it this year), but he talks to me about Christmas as though I am buying the stuff, so….. I know he knows, but we’re all just pausing with that for this year. Anyway, the reason for the Akubra hats? My big boy wants one for Christmas. He’d be happy with nothing else but that. Funny, because he’s such a bushy, even though we don’t live on land. He wishes he did! I could actually buy my 15 year old lots of things, but I am struggling with the 12 and 11 year old…. Need to put my thinking cap on. I also don’t spend lots of money on them, because they always have what they already need and we usually have a holiday somewhere in January. This year again we are going to watch the Ashes in Melbourne so that’s enough.

Because “bread is the devil” I’ve been trying to stay right away from it. Lunch is better when it’s a salad anyway πŸ˜‰

So, so, so, so, so much cricket. Here’s my family (and Amie with the new bubba) coming to watch my boys play.

I am forever trying to bring cricket whites back to life. I was telling my neighbour the other day that we have cricket every single day. He said WHAT? Yep, someone in my house is playing or training for some team every.single.day. In 10 years time when I read this blog post back I’ll be like “you silly, crazy woman Katrina!” haha.

We’ve also had a heap of school excursions this term. Every single week I seem to have one child away at something. Chevy (left) and his cousin Max were off to Borambola.

Tex went to Canberra for a few days.

Just some pics above from around my house.

The weather has improved finally and we’ve been eating outside almost every day.

He doesn’t have a very stressful life. Poor dog haha.

I went to Sydney on Monday to see the surgeon. Catch up here if you’re wondering what I’m talking about. I won’t bore you with all the gory details, but I just wanted to write down that I am having colostomy surgery (removal all large bowel and sigmoid colon) in February. Then doc wants me to heal and get a bit better before he does the full proctectomy. He doesn’t think I can handle it all at once. I am a little bit happier with that idea. So I’m just taking it one step at a time. At least I can put it all out of my head for a little while and enjoy the Christmas holidays with my boys.

The cricket is on tv this week so I do love that! I went and saw my regular doctor because she wanted to chat about some recent blood tests, and she said very high white cell count and very low iron. So now I’m back on antibiotics and having iron transfusion next week. Always something!!! But I don’t feel too bad, so I’ll happily just get on with it.

My mumma sent me flowers. How gorgeous is this bunch!!

Today I’m off to watch some more cricket. My big boy and middle boy are playing together. Then tomorrow we have a FREE Sunday! What the?? πŸ˜‰

Have a great weekend. β™₯ KC.
