Never before have we been so familiar and surrounded by “decorating themes/styles”. The online world is very visual and Instagram is the go-to place for the keen designer or decorator. I follow a lot of awesome people on Instagram and some homes are amazing! I see a lot of decorating themes which are prominent throughout homes…
I am not a themes person – Scandi, Industrial, Minimalism, Mid Century Modern etc etc. I just can’t stick to one style. That’s just way too much for me. I can’t be all “Scandi” or just “Monochrome”. The people who do follow a theme have huge followers on Instagram and I love looking at their pictures, but I can’t just stick with one thing. For me, I love a bit of everything.
I live in a home where I buy what I like (and what I can afford) and decorate around that. I don’t mind following the trends and if that means I mix styles, then I love it even better!
Some days I like dark things, then light things, then raw timber, then painted furniture. I might like a bit of black, and a bit of glass. I like things that are cute and pretty. Most of the things will last a good few years and I won’t have to change it all around when a theme goes out of style.
As you can see, I love a bit of colour and pattern. I love Kmart and Adairs and anything online and things I can make myself. The cheaper the better! Do you say I am eclectic? Ha!
