A new bed with Sleeping Duck

A couple of weeks ago Sleeping Duck kindly offered to send me a new queen mattress for my middle boy Tex. He’s been in a single bed and we were so excited to upgrade! His older brother already has a queen, so it was finally his turn. šŸ™‚

I popped on to Sleeping Duck‘s website and watched a video on how the mattress would come in a box. I wasn’t sure how that was going to work! But I was surprised…

Here it is, in my garage, in a box. It was HEAVY, so I knew it must have some weight to it (not a flimsy mattress then)…

We pulled it out. It was sealed so tight! I took a Stanley knife and gently cut off the plastic…

Then we stepped back and watched it bounce out of that plastic in to a FULL mattress. Like a proper, big firm mattress.Ā The modular mattress is a hybrid design. Incorporating both foam and springs (all rolled in to a box!).

Once opened the mattress will return to its original size and shape within 48 hours of unpacking, but it’s ready to sleep on after three hours. We couldn’t wait to get it in the house.

This was his old, worn out bed. It was time to give it away. Tex is almost 12 and he is growing at a rapid rate.

It’s a deep mattress too and we could see the top layer is actually three layers of ultra-comfortable, ultra-breathable and ultra-cool materials. Perfect for a growing, sweaty almost-teenager. We chose the medium firmness. I’ll come back to you soon and tell you what we think about Sleeping Duck when he’s had a good few nights sleep on it.

Now let the styling begin! I just need to purchase a base and a few bits and pieces.

In the meantime, check out Sleeping Duck‘s awesome, helpful and easy to navigate website.
