Painted bread board & wooden utensils with Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan

featured

Hi there! Thanks for coming by today. I have a quick little project for you. This one didn’t take long at all!

I had some boring old bread boards and wooden utensils in my kitchen and I decided to give them a little hit of colour using paint from Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan (my blog sponsor).

I decided to mix up some of the colours to make them brighter and lighter. I used a combo of Antibes Green, Antoinette, Barcelona Orange, Provence, Graphite and Pure White (you can see these swatches here). I didn’t have any little mixing cups so I used pieces of foil. Much easier to clean up too! I spread out everywhere and started playing with the colours.

I masked up the boards and utensils to paint…

I made a quick zig zag template with paper. Gotta use what you have!

I tidied up any messy edges with a bit of sandpaper.

And ta-tah… They came up a treat and have now filled a boring spot in my kitchen.

With Chalk Paint™ you get a velvety matt finish. It’s a non-toxic, water-based paint that is lead-free, EG-free, odour-free and has very low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). But of course you need to make sure you don’t wash or scrub the paint off accidentally if you’re actually using the bread board. This is why I only painted the very top of the board, so I can still use it to serve cheese or nibblies, and not worry about food sitting on painted areas.

Do you have a project which could use a lick of paint?

Check out all the Chalk Paint™ here and also find the nearest retailer (or buy online here).

Happy DIY-ing! ♥ KC.

That is so cool. I’ve got a few colours to play with too and I love the tin foil idea.
