My coffee obsession + a great giveaway!

{Sponsored by Nuffnang}

I love the early mornings. I am not a night owl at all. You’ve probably heard me say this over and over! A lot of you will see me tweeting and facebooking before 6am. I even send out invoices, blog and answer all of my emails before the sun comes up. Even if I know my husband has to get up early for work, I always get up before him just so I can enjoy that first coffee and quiet time before facing the day ahead. Plus, if I am away I still long for that first coffee of the day in the quiet when it’s still dark.

My early morning routine is always the same and even on the weekends I never vary from it. I bounce out of bed, throw on a jumper, slippers and turn the heater on. My boys are always snoozing and they are tucked away from the kitchen area so I don’t ever wake them. I have a great walk-in pantry, so I flick the light on, fill up the jug, make coffee and check my instagram on my phone while I’m waiting. Just the coffee and the quiet…

I head for my computer with coffee in hand. This is the best time of the day for me. No one talks to me, I don’t have to make any food for anyone and no one is making a noise… The first cup of coffee for the day is always the best. Did you know that 86% (5 million) of Aussie coffee fans claim to have an emotional relationship with their daily brew? Hello! That’s me! Most of the time I try to enjoy a second cup of coffee, but it’s never as good. Oh well, I will have to wait until tomorrow for that feeling again. 🙂 On average Australian coffee drinkers have 14.6 coffees in a week? How many do you have? I probably have 3 a day so that’s 21 a week!

What’s your coffee preference? Ground? Instant? Cappuccino? Skim milk? More than 3.4 million coffee drinkers (58%) enjoy drinking freshly ground coffee made at home or work, showing coffee knowledge and culture is strong in Australia and we feel confident taking on the espresso machine ourselves! I’m a bit of a fan of the espresso machine 🙂 Who can go out for lunch or morning tea without ordering a coffee? Not me. It’s just part of my social existence.

Today I have partnered up with Harris Coffee to share with you my coffee obsession. For me, it’s that 1st cup of the day that gets me going. I don’t like to have it in bed and I certainly don’t want anyone else making it. Australia’s coffee lovers spend 15 million hours per week (2.5 hours each every week) drinking coffee. Combine this with the time spent thinking about it, making and buying and you could be forgiven for thinking that Australia is slightly obsessed with the dark elixir! Are you as obsessed as me? I’d love to hear all about it!

As a part of Harris’ 130th birthday celebration, everyone has the opportunity to share their own coffee obsession and Harris is rewarding 130 of the most coffee obsessed tales with a personalised 130th anniversary prize pack. They are due any day. I am disappointed at the wait time and am yet to actually see them, so I will let you know! Hopefully they are here tomorrow or Friday (it’s been 12 weeks!). X

I use to think coffee was gross because my mum drinks so much of it, I hated the smell. When I moved to Melbourne and started college I was introduced to coffee from the other students and it was my new best friend, I got so much work done! I only have 1 or 2 cups a day, but its the one thing that helps me get all my work done 🙂 Bonus Melbourne has great coffee!

I actually never ever had a coffee till I was 32. We moved to the Gold Coast and it seemed that all any one did was go out for coffee. So that what I did. I started with a half strength coffee and worked my way up. We brought a saeco coffee machine and the rest is history…. I found myself drinking up to 5 per day…. It was getting expensive. So I am a Coles shopper and I am always looking for a good price…. That’s where Harris coffee comes in – we brought our first bag over 8 years ago and have never looked back. Visitors always ask what brand we use as they love our coffee.
    Happy 130th birthday to Harris
    Hip hip hooray!
    Cheers

I used to think people who drank coffee in the middle of summer were crazy!!! Needless to say I had not developed my obsession with coffee back then!! A couple of years ago I got myself a drive thru coffee after dropping my child off at school. That was it….I was hooked!! That one cup of heaven has become my most favourite kid free time of the day!!! Love it!!!!

Coffee, my one and only true vice.
Latte, small cup, fine rim, strong, half a sugar, 2/day.
I would rather have two small coffees than a mug!
Would rather go without then have cheap bad coffee.

Probably the wrong post to say this but I am not a coffee person at all (hate the stuff) and I am a night owl, hah we are opposites. I love the quiet at night when everyone else has gone to bed, and I love a good hot cup of tea. (sorry Harris coffee)
Clearly I will be in the minority on this post 🙂

I love coffee and so does my husband – got hooked on Espresso in Italy when I was 18. Coffee is a big deal in our house (we don’t have instant) and is made lovingly by my husband on an old La Pavoni with the pull down handle(I refuse to operate her). But lately it has gotten even more serious – he has started to roast his own beans. He sits in front of the oven with a stopwatch and everyone has to be quiet so he can hear it cracking. It is hilarious but no one is complaining about freshly roasted coffee!

Coffee is my saviour! With an active 15 month old, it keeps me going throughout the day.

I LOVE coffee and am a bit of a coffee snob. I’m from Wellington in NZ, and coffee there is treated almost as sacred, a bit like coffee in Melbourne.

We used to have a machine to make your own café style coffee at home, well we still have it but its in the back of the cupboard now as for my birthday last year I got a Nespresso machine. I absolutely love it! Its still not as good as a GOOD café coffee but I find it is certainly better than plenty of cafes I’ve been too. Plus is has been a great way to save money as we don’t buy as many takeaway coffees anymore.

I’m not a religious man, but if I ever were to give myself to a greater power it would be coffee. Forget, oil, coffee’s the real black gold.
