Laser Clinics Australia Pigmentation & Microdermabrasion Review

About 6 months ago Laser Clinics Australia contacted me and asked if I’d like a few treatments. Yes please! My skin was looking tired, it was very dry and I did have lots of small pigmentation. I have been on immunosuppressant drugs for 21 years and have had many many skin cancers cut out of my face recently. I’ve had 2 off my forehead, one skin graft on my nose and my lip split in two. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know these have been traumatic! Not fun for anyone. My skin issues are attributed to lots of things (like age and sun-loving when I was younger), but when you’ve had an autoimmune disease for years this doesn’t help. So of course I jumped at the chance to have a few treatments with Laser Clinic Australia!

[this is before – some freckles, dots and it was very dry]

I went for an initial consultation and chatted to the girls about what I wanted to achieve. It was pretty simple – moisture in my skin and less pigmentation. We decided on a package –

Pigmentation-Free ($490)

  • 2 x Express Microdermabrasions
  • 1 x Peel Accelerator
  • 2 x Full Face Pigmentation Laser
  • 1 x Purple Peel
  • 3 x Skinstitut products of choice (which I love!)

However, we did change this slightly as we went (because they are flexible) and I ended up with an additional Full Face Pigmentation Laser instead of the Purple Peel (my skin would be too sensitive). Everyone is different and I have a few friends doing treatments too and none of us are the same, so it’s best to sit and chat with the girls beforehand.

Here’s the laser zapping away. It doesn’t hurt. It does jolt you a little, but it’s not painful at all.

So when I’ve had the laser, it’s usually a full week of all of that pigmentation really coming out. It looks pretty awful. See it all around my jawline? After about a week of good skin cleansing, it starts to come off. It’s like all the freckles and pigmentation scrubs off…

I had one side which was worse than the other. But it covered ok with some makeup. I would say though, don’t plan on a going anywhere special if you’re worried about how your skin might look. I didn’t care too much, but until you know what your skin might do the first time, then just lay low.

Following a laser (I had 3 in the end) I would do a microdermabrasion treatment. This was by far my FAVOURITE. I did this a fortnight after the laser. “Microdermabrasion treatments are used to improve the texture and quality of your skin. This treatment is fantastic at tackling dull, dry or rough skin, treating acne and reducing superficial pigmentation and fine lines.” It’s like a little wand with a piece of sandpaper on the end which rubs away dead skin (and any left over pigmentation hanging around after the laser). My skin felt SOOOO good after this. I will be going back for regular microdermabrasion treatments that’s for sure. They are about $40 a treatment, but you can get these in a deal, or on a special and they are even cheaper sometimes!

This photo above was taken when I went for the peel accelerator. It was my last treatment. Basically it’s a really good cleanse. I didn’t ‘peel’ as such, just a scrub away of anything yucky and a good moisturise. You can see my skin is much clearer even here than the photos before.

And there we go! I am so happy with how my skin is looking. No Photoshop, or filters on this photo haha! It’s clearer and brighter and has more moisture. The pigmentation removal may not last forever. I will probably have to go back in a few years and go again. But I am happy to go back and have the mircrodermabrasion often (maybe every few months).

Have you been to Laser Clinics Australia? I’d love to hear what you’ve had done!

♥ KC.

Feather tattoo looks amazing. I am researching sydney artists as we speak. Keep up updated if you find someone. So far Melbourne and Gold Coast had some amazing artists but can’t find someone in Sydney yet that’s amazing (and not outrageously priced!)

Hi did you decide on the feather tattooing? Would love to see those results. I’ve. Even toying with it but fear of looking like a drag queen and cost have put me off.

Looks great – I too have pigmentation and even half an hour in direct sunlight make it go darker! its annoying but I slip slop slap often
but I still need to cover up with foundation which can make it look ashy…might look into it?!

Thank you for your review, as i to have been sitting on the fence about going in and having something done to my tired old face! 45 is just around the corner and thinking it’s time for a visit! Your skin looks amazing!!!!!

I’ve had feather tattooing on my eyebrows and it is great! There are some great brow specialists in Canberra that offer this so not too far away from you.

And yes…. I do like a touch of Botox. It takes those lines away and you can get a minimal amount so you don’t look frozen, just ‘fresh’

I must look in to it – thanks!! X

I will check into the laser for pigmentation as I have fair skin and the same problem on my neck especially now.
I have had feather tattooing on brows. Mine were very pale and not much there and I have been very happy with it. If I had your brows I wouldn’t be doing anything! But it does make them look thicker and tidy though. 🙂

Hi Katrina, how long before your pigmentation returned? Thanks.

Roughly about 18 months. It’s definitely something you have to do a bit more as your skin ages!
