A day in my life At Home DIY/How to

I painted my front door pink

I have seen a lot of coloured front doors pop up on Instagram lately. Pink, aqua, yellow, mint… I loved them! I’ve had it in my mind for a few months that I was going to paint mine pink when I got a spare minute. I warned my husband it was coming! Haha!

This was going to be an easy and cheap DIY project I could complete in a few hours.

I chose Pink Dust by Taubmans and purchased a 1L tin of water based gloss paint (although 500ml would easily do a door). I masked the area and got painting! I didn’t do the back, or the spine, only the front…

I went straight over my existing white gloss door. It took 3 coats. Make sure you buy a good paint brush.

And done! It’s a dusty/browny tone so it’s not too bright. Subtle and matches well with the shale grey weatherboards.

Excuse my spindly roses but it’s been hot. My job today is to trim them back so they can cycle again. Oh, and don’t build a weatherboard house if you can’t handle cobwebs because they are always hanging around!

Sooo pretty!! I’m going to do a coloured door when i eventually get around to painting over the horrible green that is my current house colour. My colour choice of front door keeps changing though

I’d love a black or steel grey front door

Me too but I’m going to look into colour therapy and explore what colours can manifest what vibrations and positive energy. Or choose purple because it’s my favourite colour

Looks fab!!! I’m in Bright ATM and there are so many beautiful weatherboard homes here… I’m going to try to snap a few today if I can. My brother in law built a beautiful one on Manuka Rd (off Inglewood,Bakers Lane, Dandaloo Road). I’ll be now on the lookout for front door colours!! You’re game to give pink a go! Great job āœ…ā¤ļø

I’ve had a tin of cherry red paint ready for when my new front door arrives. I can’t wait! Coloured doors are so pretty!

Katrina, I like how you matched colors of letter ‘O’ from your front door mat ‘home’ with the door color šŸ™‚ Great touch there!!!
Have you thought maybe about painting your window frames in some darker color? This may bring some more contrast in overall look of your hose šŸ™‚ My background is architecture, so it’s just a first thing that came to my mind!
