I have sorted the luggage!

Today is just a rehash of my instagram pictures… If you follow me there you’ll know I have been working out which luggage to take. I am doing some shopping, so I need to make sure I can bring it all home!

Kids have their orders in for new shoes and t-shirts. It’s a good time to shop in New York because they have all their Summer gear in the shops. Plus I want a new handbag, sandals and maxi dresses (and denim vests and maybe a new camera and…. ;)).

I already own a few suitcases but I needed the right sizes! I started with all of these. I hunted for them in my garage…

I ended with this set-up! The red ones are my sister-in-law’s and the rest are mine (and the remainders are back in the garage – if you ever need to borrow luggage I’m your girl!). The smaller bags in front of the big ones fit inside so I am only packing clothes in those. The big fellas are for the goodies on the way home! Plus the carry on bags are pretty much empty too.

Hmmm… now I wonder why this would be my favourite bag??

So Grandma is coming to stay. This is what we did – vacuum the bottom of the freezer. What? You don’t do that?? We’ve been cleaning like crazy. We’ve cleaned the oven, bought a new fry-pan ( Mum – the kids have been told to say “oh it’s always that clean Grandma” hehehe), washed everything within an inch of it’s life and I’m cutting all the kids finger nails tomorrow 😉

I’m getting excited, nervous and anxious all rolled in to one….

If you want something else to read other than my New York posts – I did a celebrity twitter round up on Kidspot here.

Oh, and I may have fixed my iPad movie problem with Dropbox. Plus, thanks for tips about jailbreaking. No, no, no not doing that! You guys are the best. X

Very clever luggage ideas Katrina. I am confident you will come home with all 6 bags packed to the brim. Have a wonderful time, NYC is the best and one of the most exciting places to visit.
If the opportunity arises, go over to the Statue of Liberty. Back in the day I climbed up inside the crown, not sure if you can do that anymore, but it is a memory that has stayed with me all these years. The food, the shops, the people, the lights, the atmosphere, the landmarks all await you .. so excited for you… enjoy every moment <3
    🙂

Love that you have factored in shopping and taken basically nothing!…..my type of girl ;0)

You are so funny with the freezer…I do stuff like that too when my Mum comes to stay. Everything gets cleaned, even the dog!
Have fun, I know you will!

The last time I flew I had a rather hefty weight problem! No, not me…the luggage and they slugged me for it! NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!! I had to do a quick rearrange to save myself $200! That’ll learn me to bring home lots of bottles of wine in the suitcases…and a picnic bag, and new clothes, and…well you get the idea… I never travel light … I’m so much better with road trips, at least I can just jam it all in 😉

HAVE AN AMAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYZING TIME!!!! Can’t wait to hear all about it!!!!!!! XXOO

This happened to Amie and I about 3 months ago. Should have seen us unpacking our bags and taking a lot of stuff on as carry on!

LOL I do remember reading that now. OH how I LOVE unpacking my bag at the airport for the whole world to see….NOOOOOOOOT! And then I realised at the last minute I had tweezers and scissors on me, which by SOME miracle they let through (OMG a few tense moments there…) had to breathe a lot, I was almost hyperventilating as they are my fave nail scissors which I bought a hundred years ago and you can’t buy anymore! The joys of travel! 😉 lol

One of the things I noticed when flying just this week is no one seems to worry about the cabin luggage allowance. People seemed to be carrying their whole life onto the plane! Anyway, I also take packing very seriously and feel that after many years have finally mastered the art. Have fun, will be reading your posts with great interest as my husband wants to go to NY later this year!! xT

I will be sure to share everything 🙂 Looks like you had a fab time away too!

So funny about the freezer! Is it bad I do a quick clean knowing my mum will come and do a thorough one?

Loving reading about how people get ready for these trips. My hubby and I plan to go to New York next year and having never left Australia, I am taking lots of notes.

Have a great time, looking forward to hearing all about it. I plan to go to NY for my 50th birthday next August.

Thank you! I’ll be sure to share it all.

Have an awesome time! I’m so jealous 🙂

    Greetings from Paris!

I do what you do with my luggage packed inside an empty case, but i also carry a bag weigh thing. Be careful – they will slug you otherwise! :). Have fun!

Hey you! Enjoy your trip too!

The freezer scene will be me when my MIL comes to stay with the kids when hubby and I go to Norfolk Island later this year!

      Silly creatures aren’t we? Ha!

I’m just about to head to the airport. You have convinced me to take a larger carry-on. I was just taking a rather small thing with my 2 suitcases inside each other for check in baggage. Just as well I did the blog rounds before I left! Phew! See you on the other side! You might have to do the old fashioned thing and leave a message at my hotel when you have recovered from your flight. God knows if I will up and running with computers and phones by then #ITgumby. Look for me….. I’ll be the only one not looking at a phone GPS and carrying a really large map! Have a great flight with Mr Chambo! A-M xx

Best wishes. Hope you and your husband have an amazing time. I’m sure you will! I can’t wait for your updates. Travel safely

Lol! Love all the cleaning and nesting before you leave. I do that whenever we go away…nothing like a clean house to return too. I hope you have a great trip…those NY shops won’t know what hit them! Xx

Wow, I am off to NYC next week too! Doing exactly the same thing as you, leaving the kids at home and plotting and planning how much shopping I can do. Like you, I am taking next to nothing and coming back chockers! Have you got Sibella Court’s Stylists Guide to New York? It’s my bible.

    Have a great trip!
