Floor Plan Friday: Huge family home with library or 5th bedroom

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Today I have this family friendly floor plan to share with you. It’s a big home. I found it via Pinterest and there are no links back to the original source so I can’t show you the facade. Anyway, I think this is a pretty good layout for a large family with all the bells and whistles.

There is heaps of storage with a cloak room as you come in form the garage (could also be a handy mudroom).

With a library, living area, family room, rumpus AND a study nook you won’t be wondering where to sit (or where to escape to!) because there are plenty of spaces to spread out. The library could be turned in to a 5th bedroom if required.

The contentious issue will be the laundry placement through the kitchen with a walk-in-linen at the end. It won’t be for everyone! I think it’s fantastic and wouldn’t worry me. People do get funny about dirty clothes through the kitchen.

I really like the study nook, that would be perfect.

The dressing room behind the bed in the master is a dream of mine.

Overall this is not a bad plan.

What do you think about this floor plan?

If you’re obsessed with house designs like I am then I have a stack more over here.

Plus I can give you a hand with your own floor plans in my services list over here.

Happy Friday ♥ KC.

Needs an additional bathroom perhaps between the two adjoining bedrooms. Lose the study nook – it is like the kitchen desk – great idea in principle but not used. Don’t care where the laundry is but I would move walk in closet to the entry of the room. Why walk all the way through the laundry to get your clean linens.

I really like this floorplan. I’d probably switch the laundry layout so there was a door near the study nook instead. Just for less traffic in the kitchen. I’d also switch the library and bedroom 4. Make a front guest room separate from the rest. Expand the powder room to have a shower too for the guests (with smaller cloakroom). Put in a door to separate bedroom “wing” from living area (have to switch door and wardrobe location in bedroom 3). And make the new “library” with open wall into study nook to be rumpus room/homework area etc.
