DIY pallet coffee table

Morning! Thanks for popping in today!

I started working on this pallet coffee table months ago, but I finally got it finished during the week. The inspiration came from this Pinterest photo. I think I did ok!

First we started with an old pallet. They are everywhere! Look on the side of the road, near new houses being built, or behind factory warehouses. We own a printing company, so we have lots of them all the time.

We took the bottom row of pallets off…

My husband cut it down a bit as it was rather large. The size turned out to be 1100 x 850mm.

We took some blocks of wood off another pallet we had so we could lift it up a bit. Otherwise it would have been too close to the ground and looked silly. These were just off-cuts, but I am positive you could find blocks of wood at Bunnings. We just used liquid nails. See, even the child got in to it!

I bought 4 castors from Bunnings for $5 each. They lock too, so it doesn’t move all around my living room. My husband drilled them on to the blocks of wood…

Then finally I had a piece of glass made for the top. It cost me $240 (I could have got it cheaper if I had haggled, but I didn’t, bummer!). It’s 6mm toughened glass with a little bevel edge so you don’t hurt yourself on it. I just sat the glass straight on top of it. It’s heavy so it doesn’t move at all. I had thought about putting little plastic clear dots under the corners, but it doesn’t need it. And here it is…

It’s been a huge talking point in our house. Everybody comments on it. I am so happy with the result! My husband told me to tell you he will make you one if you want, and we can look at freight costs. It takes a while to find the right pallet, so he is hunting around! Email me if you think you want one 🙂

Have a great weekend and I hope you have some DIY projects on the go. Come back next week as I share some of my new garden and all of the wallpaper I have been doing (including my pink wall and the full world map!)…

PS. Thank you so much for your well wishes on my last blog post. My BIL is doing much better. I am relieved. X
