Do you do this?
It probably sounds strange but I can’t help it. I was trying to think about how I’d describe the feeling I get when I look over and see the fresh magazine sitting there waiting for me to read… it’s like I have a secret treat that I can ‘ have’ whenever I want. No one but me knows it’s unopened.
See, I have these 3 magazines sitting here. They are 2 weeks old. I haven’t even opened them… well I did flick the Woman’s Day
They are all dog-eared and look like they’ve been read, but that’s because I leave them on the coffee table where the kids sit to play the playstation, my husband puts his feet and all sorts of junk end up on them. I promise I will read them this week. I have to! There will be a new round of them in the stores soon.
I’m addicted to magazines… I’m sure if I saved up all the $$ I spent on them I’d probably be able to buy a huge new piece of furniture or something
But, of course I opened 1 particular magazine as soon as I bought it – this week’s Woman’s Day – it’s Mr and Mrs Josh and Jenna. More on this later in the week. I can’t share my photos until the magazine has been out for a few days. You must get to the shops and buy it now! All the details are in it. Was gorgeous!

Speaking of magazines… I’ve got a ripper of a giveaway for you.
I’ve decided to give away a $50 voucher to MagShop. Grab your own subscription to your favourite magazine with this one.
As usual, I’ll draw the winner in a week. Leave a comment on this post to enter. Share the love if you want (click those share buttons below!).
[PS. Wagga has dodged a bullet with the floods. Central Wagga is ok. North Wagga isn't, but at least the levee's held overnight. I've been tweeting all the action.]

A mag subscription would be great right now. I fractured my foot yesterday so it would
Be a great way to relieve the boredom I’m going to feel for the next 6 weeks

I absolutely love magazines but have managed to get myself down to just one subscription and I can’t tell you the joy I feel when my plastic sleeved magazine arrives in the letterbox.Infact I still haven’t forgiven my mother in law for opening and reading my magazine when it arrived when we were away and she was house sitting.I know I’m so mean and that was three years ago!Let it go Michelle.

There is nothing like a magazine subscription as it is a gift that keeps on giving. I love opening the mailbox at the end of a long day to find a magazine. Dinner is always delayed that night.. Love your blog.

Love a wedding.
So glad that leve didn’t break but there is still so much devastation

Btw, keep up the good work – I love reading your posts

I Always seem to do that with magazines! Not always intentional, but I love buying them and then in my busy life of mum/business owner I sometimes don’t find the time to read them that week.
Glad the floods have eased slightly for you, been following your tweets for updates. Loved those heeled flippers you tweeted a pic of!

Katrina,
I can relate to the ‘secret treat’. The original ‘Victoria’ magazine did it for me….
Plus when I was 14 my dad gave me a one year subscription to the USA mag ‘Seventeen’ – it would arrive rolled up in plastic by airmail from NEW YORK!
This is pre social media pre Internet pre computer days.
It sent my teenage heart into a flutter – evoked these days by getting magazines in the mail. A small joy I seem to have over looked. And now he’s gone I can’t ask dad why he did that. But I’m glad he did – I’m enjoying the memories as I write. I kept those Seventeens for years, dragged them through endless house moves…wish I had them now.
Thanks for stirring sweet memories.
Ps glad you are high n dry. Let us know re the clean up.

I am a magazine junkie. I am in heaven when the newsagents throw in an extra two for the price of one. I have terrible trouble throwing the good ones out.

Magazines are my vice. Real Living is my fave .. to my dismay I realised a few days ago, I have neglected to buy the last 2 issues … noooo !! How can this happen? Obviously the result of not enough trips to the shops and a busy mums life. This is the beauty of a subscription, never is an issue missed.

I’m always too busy to buy a mag – until I’m at an airport (which in my job is all the time!)…then it sits in my handbag after the plane trip and I forget I’ve got it…Real Living is the BEST…I saw the cover on your photo and have made a note to absolutely duck down and buy that today!!

Oh you’ve read my mind! I was googling just this morning a mag subscription for my Husband for his 26th Birthday in a few weeks and I’m shocked at the price of the 4WD’ing one he wants! He’s such a hard worker so I would love to get it for him, but the bills are piling up and I’m not sure we can afford it, we’ve just booked our first family holiday with our 1 year old and of course rego pops up as well…
Ps..Love your blogs!

I buy magazines with products that I can’t or won’t even buy. When I go on a bender I get French & Italian vogue. I can’t resist Grazia when they feature a cute decor spread. I keep telling myself when I buy a magazine holder things will be different.

I always tell myself I’m not going to buy as many magazines this month….Than I see the shiny new cover staring at me in the newsagent and I can’t resist, I have to have it. I usually read it straight through and then go back reading slowly. It really is an addiction! Tx

I never buy the womans day or those mags but like you am TOTALLY addicted to decorating magazines and would hate to know what I spend each month – scary!!! But I only bought the Womans Day because I wanted to see Josh & Jennna’s wedding photos and it was well worth the money too – JUST DIVINE
I made a comment on their Facebook page about how I loved the vintage theme and the quirky touches but I also added that none of the photos included their Block friends or maybe they were not invited!! I got a mesage back that YES some of you were there!!!! – oops, I think I may have offended them by asking and maybe they thought I was making out there you were all not friends – hope they didn’t think that because I think they are a gorgeous couple and I just wanted to see a photot of all of you guys – but anyway, had my minor whinge for the day (if thats really a whinge) I love reading your blog and I am still having a laugh about your post last week about being loud
Keep up the fantastic work – LOVIN YOUR WORK -Marita

Single income, kids, mortgage, bills, yadda yadda… So I’m behind on all my goss! I just have a quick glance on the way past the stand at the supermarket wistfully then snap out of it and load the conveyor belt before someone else rams me up the ankles with their trolley!

I love magazines as well and can totally understand when you describe them as your little treat or secret! Like you also, I have been known to buy a mag or two and then leave them unopened for ages…you really have to enjoy them in peace and quiet (not with boys bouncing all over the place)!
To tell you the truth, I haven’t bought a magazine in ages (except one my boys were featured in) as they are now a “luxury” item. With bills flying in left, right and centre, I tend to forego things for myself.
Would love to win this!! Hmmmm…how would I decide which one to subscribe to?

i had such a laugh at this post because i do the exact same thing!!! Last week i was having a winge to my boss who subscribes to the same magazine as me “Have you got yours yet? When is it coming? i am hanging out for it” When i got home that day i was SO excited to find it sitting on my coffee table! I sent a text to my boss saying “YAY it’s here!” It took me THREE DAYS to open it, but i did a little internal happy dance each time i walked passed it! Talk about delayed gratification!!!
